EMS Students Participate in Kids CAN Build Challenge

A team from EMS participated in this year's great "Kids CAN Build Project." The students created a nine foot structure in the shape of the middle school. The structure used 3,088 cans and was dedicated in loving memory to Aliza Spencer.

Therapy Dog at Wilson Making Positive Impact on Students

Therapy Dogs are being utilized more and more in educational settings to help with stress relief. In Binghamton, students in Dana Ingerson's music class at Woodrow Wilson Elementary School enjoy her therapy dog Brayleigh. Ingerson rescued Brayleigh as a therapy dog as she was battling breast cancer.

Mann Students Get Special Performance

Students of Horace Mann Elementary School had the chance to see a special African dance and drumming performance from Binghamton University Students. Each piece featured culturally specific instruments, costumes, songs and dance steps. Kids clapped and cheered as they watched and listened to the different sounds and dance moves the dance group displayed.

Mask Mandate Lifted Effective March 2, 2022

Governor Hochul announced at a news conference Sunday that she is lifting the NYS mask mandate for schools, beginning Wednesday, March 2, 2022. The Governor said her decision was based on the new Centers for Disease Control (CDC) guidance that connects community spread and hospitalizations.

BCSD Offers Testing and Test Kits After Winter Break

Students return to school from the long winter recess on Monday, Jan. 3, as local COVID-19 cases are on the rise and home testing kids are in short supply across the state. In response to this, the Governor announced earlier this week that New York State will be providing schools with additional testing kits so every student has the opportunity to test. We anticipate these additional tests to arrive in the district sometime next week.
