BCSD School Budget Passes
Posted on 05/20/2021
The Binghamton City School District is pleased to announce that its 2021-2022 budget passed with an approval rate of 80 percent. We'd like to thank the voters for approving our school budget, which was carefully crafted to preserve and renew opportunities for teaching and learning and support the social and emotional health of our students. Your vote of support will help our district maintain our teaching and learning capacity, enhance our extended learning and support service opportunities, and provide continuous, high-quality professional development to our faculty and staff.
We would also like to congratulate our newly elected board members, Albert Penna, Ashley Montalvo, and Pamela Kollar. Penna and Montalvo were elected to serve 5-year terms, which will commence on July 1, 2021. As the candidate who received the third highest number of votes, Kollar was elected to fill a vacant seat, which has one year remaining in its term. She will begin
her service at the June Board of Education meeting. Being a school board member is an important role and a significant commitment, and we appreciate the willingness of these individuals to dedicate their time and talents to our district.
Additionally, we would also like to recognize Liz Rosenberg for her contributions and care she’s shown during her five years of service to the Board of Education. During her tenure, Liz served on the district’s Fine Arts Task Force, Safety Committee, the Student Attendance Task Force,
and the Excellence in Academics Task Force. We would also like to thank David Hawley, who spent this school year serving the remainder of a term left by a vacancy. Again, we extend our deepest appreciation to all who participated in our school board election and budget vote. Your support is invaluable as we continue our mission to educate, empower and challenge all students in the Binghamton City School District.
