BHS Earns No Place for Hate Designation

Following recent acts of violence and hate in Uvalde and Buffalo, it is more important now than ever before for schools and educators to teach our children about respect, inclusion, bias and bigotry. We are proud to announce that Binghamton High School has earned designation as a No Place for Hate school for the third consecutive year.
By completing specific activities and initiatives throughout the school year, BHS students and staff created a more inclusive and equitable learning environment. The activities, which aim to help students become more effective allies in combating bias and bullying in themselves, others, and society, included:
- A schoolwide signing of the "Resolution of Respect" activity, which was completed at the start of the school year. Resolutions were gathered, formed into wings and displayed in the Commons and front lobby.
- 'Chalk the Walk' events, where students wrote messages of peace and positivity on the sidewalk outside BHS.
- The BHS Diversity Challenge, a contest completed in Fine Arts classes which asked students to create an original piece of artwork that captured their thoughts and feelings about diversity.
News of this achievement comes just before No Place for Hate Day on June 10, 2022. Congratulations to our students and staff on their commitment to demonstrating that there is no place for hate in our school.
