“Every (person) should plant a tree, have a child and write a book. These all live on after us, insuring a measure of immortality” – attributed to the Talmud and Jose Marti, Cuban revolutionary and poet.

When BCSD Director of Math, Science and Technology, Pre-K- Grade 12, Brenda Lidestri heard that quote, it really resonated with her. She came up with an idea to write a book titled “Bug-a-Boo.” “Bug-a-Boo” is a children’s book about a little bug who thinks his family has forgotten his birthday.
“I always knew that adults reading with young children was important, but it's become even clearer to me as I've read about it as part of my role as director of Pre-K,” she said. “I want adults reading with children to be joyful and something they can do over and over again with a favorite story, which “Bug-a-Boo” will hopefully become for some families.”
Lidestri said she started writing the book as a special journal she was writing for her daughter when she was little.

“COVID made me realize that if I was going to do it, I’d better just do it,” she said.
Her favorite part of being an author is seeing all the positive comments from friends and family, and getting to see her book for sale on Amazon.
