We could not be Patriot prouder of senior Nysein Reese, the winner of this year’s prestigious Patriot Scholarship. Reese plans to attend the State University of New York at Buffalo. He’s set on a career in medicine, a career path inspired by the significant health challenges he’s faced over the past year. Reese was diagnosed with end-stage renal failure last February and underwent a kidney transplant in August. He is the picture of perseverance, maintaining his focus on his studies and positive attitude along the way. Reese is an active member of the senior class and also participates in track and field.
The Patriot Scholarship was established at BHS in the late 1980s by an anonymous donor. The recipient receives $5000 for their first year of college, and $2500 for the following three years.
