Congratulations to Binghamton High School senior Malik Griffith, the winner of this year’s Patriot Scholarship! The prestigious Patriot Scholarship, established in the late 1980s and made possible year after year by the generosity of an anonymous donor, is given to one deserving BHS senior on an annual basis. To be eligible for the Patriot Scholarship, a student must be ranked in the top 100 of their class, demonstrate good attendance, and have made a positive contribution to their school. The purpose of this scholarship is to assist a deserving student to further their education in a way they might not financially have been able to do so without this award. Griffith will be provided $5000 for his first year of college, and $2500 each year for the following three years.
Griffith, who was recommended for the scholarship by his school guidance counselor, is currently ranked #92 in his class of 413 students. He currently takes Advanced Placement and International Baccalaureate classes. Griffith is currently enrolled in the New Visions Business Academy, where he takes college level courses through Syracuse University. He is also President of the Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA). Griffith wishes to be an example for his younger siblings and will be the first to attend college in his family. He has not yet decided where he will attend college, but we know anywhere he chooses will be lucky to have him. We are incredibly Patriot Proud of this young man!
