Dear Binghamton families,
I hope you’ve had a restful and enjoyable summer break, filled with plenty of opportunities for rejuvenation and quality time with those you love most. As we bid farewell to summer, we welcome the new school year with eagerness and enthusiasm.
A new academic year comes with many new beginnings: new lessons, new opportunities, and new friendships. It’s a time to build on our existing relationships and previous learning. There are tremendous opportunities for us to continue to grow as individuals, and as an educational community. Our parents and families are essential partners in the success of our students. We appreciate and encourage your involvement in our schools.
Though school has been out for summer, many wonderful things have continued to take place in the Binghamton City School District! There is exciting construction underway at our buildings, and we look forward to sharing with you the improvements brought by the first phase of the capital project approved by voters in December 2017.
Nearly 900 students enjoyed the district’s wide variety of free summer camps. We offered summer camps for elementary and middle school students that thoughtfully combined educational lessons with summer fun, in addition to a fabulous selection of Fine Arts, Athletic and STEAM camps.
The district’s administration, alongside its faculty and the Board of Education, has dedicated months to careful planning and groundwork for the new school year. We are excited to see our efforts come to fruition as we work together toward our common goal of the success of each and every one of our students. We pride ourselves on being a student-centered learning environment, and are committed to continuing to ensure equitable opportunities are present, allowing all students to achieve the best possible educational outcomes.
I look forward to leading the district through another school year, filled with many incredible accomplishments by our students and staff. Thank you for your continued support of our school community!
With Patriot Pride,
Tonia
